Tim Gorman
(1952-2025)
It’s hard to write these words, but I have to let you all know that Tim passed a few days ago. He was many things to many people, but above all else he was the consummate “Rocker”.
Tim started playing piano when he was 5, played his first on-stage performance at 12, and formed his first rock band “Tom Thumb and the Four Fingers” that same year. On Saturday nights they would set up on my parents front patio and give free concerts. The place would be hoppin’.
I could keep going, but the stories would be endless. The short version is that Tim was born to play Rock and Roll. He NEVER wanted to do anything else…and he never did. There has never been a better rock keyboardist than Tim; that’s fact.
I remember one day in college he came to my dorm room with a stunningly beautiful girl; Jackie Culver. They seemed great together but went different ways after graduation. Somehow, late in life, they reconnected, and have been married ever since. She gave him stability, and a family. She stood by him through this long illness, and he loved her above all else.
Now to the point of this post. Tim died a Rockstar, and for years he lived like one. In the immortal lyrics of John Prine, “Payday comes and he’s howlin’ at the moon”.
During the later years of his life Tim lived simply, stretching the money made during his heyday and working right up to the end to make ends meet. Now Jackie is facing, not only the loss of her husband, but funeral expenses and 10 years of medical debt. She needs help, and we can honor Tim by supporting Jackie with a donation. Nothing would have pleased him more.
I know things are tough but every penny helps. Dig deep and see what you can do.
